• ·Engage meaningfully with children to support their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• · Maintain, clean and organize an inspirational learning environment
• · Plan and implement age-appropriate, child-centered activities for children, such as media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
• · Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
• · Model positive adult/child relationships
• · Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• · Ensure an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
• · Promote a welcoming environment for all families and community members
• · Work on a rotated shift and any other shift as required
• · Develop and implement with your “team” individual and group curriculums for pre-school and school age children
• · May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours

• Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education or a bachelor’s degree in child development, Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for ECE
• · Experience in licensed childcare (preferred)
• · Ability to successfully carry out ECE duties and any other responsibilities
• · Possess excellent behavior guidance skills that include positive reinforcement and redirection strategies
• · Skills and interests in creative art, drama, music, science, literacy and numeracy programs
• · Working knowledge of the City of Toronto Operating Criteria, Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen/Emergent curriculum
• · A clear Health and Police Reference Check is mandatory prior to employment
• · Hold a valid standard First Aid/CPR certificate
